KUTHIPPU MEEN
(Tamarind Fish Curry)
INGREDIENTS
Kuthippu Fish – ¼ Kg.
Tamarind – 100 gms.
Green Chilies – 2 Nos.
Curry Leaves – Few.
Coconut – ½ No.
Tomato – 1 No.
Red Chilie Powder – 1 TBSP.
Salt – T.T.
Garlic – 3 Flakes.
METHOD :
1. Clean and wash the fish with turmeric powder and salt
2. Grate and extract the milk from the coconut. Mix the tamarind and strain it.
3. Marinate the fish with Salt, Chilie Powder for 5 minutes.
4. In the cooking vessel, mash the green chilies, and curry leaves.
5. Put the marinated fish in cooking vessel. Add the coconut milk mixture.
6. Cook the fish and add the garlic and sliced onions, crushed tomato. Close the lid and bring to boil. After 5 minutes, stir it without damage. Cook another 5 minutes. Remove from fire
7. For tempering heat the oil, add chopped onions and curry leaves. Brown it. Add this tempering into the fish gravy. Close the lid.
8. Serve hot with white rice, or string hoppers.
