Education – An Analysis

Gaining Knowledge:

Have you felt that a PUC during our mother’s era is better than the current day Bachelor degree?

I mean, someone who has PUC performs basic tasks like calculation and certain logics better than a current day Bachelor degree holder?

If your father has a bachelor degree, ask him what is his grade? He would probably at Second Class or sometimes First Class? Ask him how many scored First class and how many scored Second class? Compared that numbers with the current day? We just need to compare the percentage of people who scored First and percentage who scored Second class.

What is the reason behind? Is it because people were not studying before but are studying now? Is it because education was tougher before but easier now? WHY?.

The reasons are:

  1. Even now, there are institutions were gaining first class is really tough and you will only see around 3% to 5% of the students getting into that class.
  2. In India, the class that could be ranked good is “First Class with Distinction”. Everyone gains a First Class now. If someone says he has secured First Class, then we need to know his percentage, as the First Class ranges from 60% to 75%, which is a big gap.
  3. Previous generation had affection and interest over the courses they study and also over their teachers. This helped them to learn better. They were not deflected by TV and other just marks. Now-a-days, everyone wants marks and everyone is after various programmes in TV. IS KAYALPATNAM CABLE TV OPERATORS PREPARED TO STOP SPECIFIC PROGRAMMES DURING ADHAN TIME OR EXAM TIME? OR PARENTS READY TO SKIP SERIALS (WHICH ARE NOTHING BUT NON-SENSE)?
  4. It was the pattern that Hafil students should take a route to their madrashas which does not let them wander around on the street or cause deflection. See, what is the current pattern?
  5. Now every institution (both schools and madrashas) claim their excellence in number of candidates passed. Is it the quantity or quality, that matters?

What was before and what is now?

Few years ago, Kayalpatnam had people who are of different positions and different designations. If someone down the ladder is in trouble, the one above could always help out solve the issue. But, now, everyone is a degree holder and almost all (90%) are then so called institutions and everyone is trying to fix his own feet and so how could he help.

Competitive nature among students:

Kayalpatnam is now venturing into the area of providing competition among students. Its good to provide competitive nature among students. But the way it is done at kayalpatnam is such that our primary/elementary school children are made into competition among themselves. This impacts as:

  1. Our children develop jealous, pride and anger among themselves.
  2. Our children once they get first prize in a competition, think that they are the best. They are not aware that they are just competiting among their fellow friends.

To me, primary or elementary children can participate in activities where the aim is to develop their skills and not to complete among themselves. No pride or jealous nature should develop among them. Skills are needed for further development. Always keep in mind that there is always ways and means to improve further and being first at kayalpatnam is not the ultimate result.

ARE ABLE TO CONVERT OUR LOCAL COMPETITIVE PRIZE WINNERS TO BE DISTRICT LEVEL OR STATE LEVEL PRIZE WINNERS?

HOW MANY FIRST RANK STUDENTS OF KAYALPATNAM HAVE SECURED UNIVERSITY RANKS?

If you let the students know and become aware that they are capable, then they will perform. Student could always improve if given proper guidance. Otherwise, we are spoiling them.

Education Development:

To improve the education, there should be some coordinated efforts, plans, aim and targets set by the principal, correspondent and management of the schools. If their opinions differ, then there is no chance of moving the school in the right direction.

If a new opinion is voiced out, then it should be thoroughly discussed and then either applied or discarded. The whole process must be noted in the school ledger for further reference. Many ideas have been given at Kayalpatnam through website or organized activities, but nothing is implemented. If any idea is rejected, then appropriate justification should be provided. Educational institutions should not be run in a business structured way, where the boss decides and it is his prerogative.

Some people of Kayalpatnam are of the opinion: The current status of kayalpatnam education is the way it can be. Thus, if anyone wishes to have a different scheme, let him go outside of kayalpatnam (Namakkal, in particular) and study. By doing that, we are clearly agreeing that our kayalpatnam is weak in education and we are not capable to uplift its educational status. Its very unfortunate that our kayalpatnam which was once a place of education (both Islamic and worldistic), is now nothing in education.

ARE THE SCHOOLS READY TO CHALLENGE THE PARENTS, WHO SAY THAT KAYALPATNAM IS JUST NOT ENOUGH?

Quality Vs Quantity:

What is our target – Quality or Quantity or both? How a days, there are many tuition centres and schools that indicate the number of students who have joined medical or engineering or other colleges?

CAN THEY INDICATE HOW MANY HAVE JOINED TOP INSTITUTIONS UNDER GOVERNMENT QUOTA?

How many students are doing Professional degrees at Anna University or REC/NIT or IIT or Stanley or MMC or AIIMS or JIPMER or at top colleges?

Why are these so-called educationalists or teachers fooling our society with numbers?

Few others say: It does not matter where you study as every one does the same course and degree. You could always see a difference in jobs among those who graduate from top institutions. In your job, can you reject doing an overloaded job without a worry that you will loose the current job? This can be boldly done if you have strong faith. You yourself know that you have done proper education, then how could you have strong faith.

Always, remember in life, there should be a balance between Life style and money earned. JUST BECAUSE YOU EARN GOOD MONEY AS A COMPUTER PROFESSIONAL THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU MUST WORK 24 HOURS DAILY.

SEE WHAT SO-CALLED GRADUATES OR ALIMA MOTHERS DO TO THEIR CHILDREN:

  1. Sending children to school very early (Age: 3). This is because they want to watch TV and gossip around OR they just want to be free from the nuisance of the children. Note: CHILDREN NEVER KNOW WHAT IS NUISANCE.

Educational System: Matriculation, State Board, CBSE, ICSE

If you look at the syllabus of all these educational systems, now they are close to each other, except the way by which exam papers are set. The mode of learning varies. ICSE is a tough syllabus. If we were to look at the performance of CBSE schools in our area, the reality is that it is not different from that of our TN state schools.

You could actually download the books for TN and CBSE from the Internet, for free.

If a school wishes to improve, they must have the necessary infrastructure and teaching staff. This means, money needs to be pumped in first before the real fruit can be seen.

Tuition learning and centers:

Any one can be a good or bad teacher. It all depends on what they want to be and whether they are prepared to work harder. Teachers/parents job is to understand the environment and bring in necessary steps to impart the knowledge onto the students/children. Now-a-days, at Kayalpatnam, students waste their time traveling to different tuition centers.

IF PARENTS ARE READY TO PAY, WHY NOT BRING THE TUITION TEACHERS TO THE SCHOOL ITSELF? REDUCE TIME WASTAGE? GIVE AMPLE TIME FOR STUDENTS TO STUDY.

Educational Status of Kayalpatnam:

  1. At least 10% of our Kayalpatnam +2 students should enter into top colleges or top companies or end up with top scores.
  2. It’s not the first rank of Kayalpatnam, that’s important. What is important is that whether a student can join a course/college/company that he likes/wants?
    1. How many students are scoring good aggregates, which could help them to join whatever course they want to?
  3. It is really immaterial to say that we now have Hafil-ul-Quran who is an Engineer or a Doctor. Hafil-ul-Quran students are more capable and thus should be able to enter into any degree they like to, if properly guided.
    1. HOW MANY HAFIL STUDENTS HAVE ENTERED INTO PROFESSIONAL COURSES UNDER GOVERNMENT QUOTA, IN TOP INSTITUTIONS?
  4. Holiday status at Kayalpatnam:
    1. Why not Friday is a holiday and Sunday is a working day? In Ambur, we find schools that work on Sunday. Different countries have different leave days and so nothing wrong if we adhere to our own style of holidays (Fri and Sat OR Thu and Fri OR Fri and Sun). UNITY IS STRENGTH. We don’t even a single label in this simple matter.
  5. Why not bring all old students of Kayalpatnam, who are currently doing my Bachelor’s degree at different colleges and get their opinions to assist the current batch of students?
  6. If possible, organize general talks which are voluntary by kayalpatnam people who are working in different companies, both in India and abroad.
  7. Open Question to Kamalavathi School:
    1. Is there any specific reason why the school has changed its own policy on Friday prayers?
    2. If someone buys a land near your school and organizes for Friday prayer there, then how?
  8. Open Question to those who entertain students to study at specific schools and colleges, indicating about Prayer:
    1. Please note that even Jummah is being conducted by many Kayalpatnam students at different colleges now. Following hanafi madhab, presence of less number of people in Jummah prayer is permitted. Wherever you are, if you want to pray, you will sure pray, insha Allah.
  9. People do lot of diploma or certificates just to put them in the marriage certificates. If they ask what they have studied in it, the answer is null and void. Whom are we trying to fool? Is this called as education?
